Socks' former owner describes him as follows: Socks is very much a fun-loving cat -- he's always in the mood to play, and will chase almost anything that moves. He is also very smart, learning how to open doors at a very young age by leaping from a chair at the door handle! He is a little bit shy around new people, and will hide when he sees or hears someone he doens't recognize. But once he has a quiet chance to investigate, he will quickly open up to the new person.Socks is a fairly independent type, but there are still often times where he will seek attention. You will know he has fully accepted you when he starts purring and licking at your shirt collar (a leftover behavior from when he was a kitten -- he used to suck on shirts or other clothing).Socks lost what was supposed to be his forever home when his adopter married a woman who insists that the cats be eliminated in case she becomes pregnant and while she has young children.Socks had a very difficult time after being sent away -- he went into a profound depression, stopped eating, and we thought we were going to lose him. Recently though, he's starting to show some of the personality described above, and is definitely on the mend physically and psychologically. He needs dedicated love and care in a lifetime home to bring him back to the cat he used to be.
